DAIRY FARM

Sometimes – or actually pretty often – there are news that are concerning the whole country, but since we are a local newspaper that’s read in Satakunta we add local viewpoints or comments to those national news. We give the news a face – a local face.
This time the story was about the financial challenges dairy farms in Finland have these days. I got the address of the farm, drove there, took a few shots in the cow houses and drove back. And that was about it. One localization done, thank you very much!
These kind of gigs are usually really quick, because if the writing journalist isn’t there at the same time it’s really just getting in, taking a few shots and getting out.
I like going to gigs with the writer because hearing the interview might give ideas for the shot. And it gives me time to watch the person and get the feel of him/her. Some people are a little nervous when the interview starts but get relaxed when some times passes. That makes my work that much easier. And I really do like listening to people’s stories.
