It’s crazy! CRAZY! To play football outside during winter in Finland. It was only -2°C, but still. Some players didn’t even have long pants, they played with bare knees. I get that they move a lot so they won’t feel too cold, but still, knees bare in that weather? I’m pretty certain that playing in an outfit like that during winter won’t help with knee issues football players have so often.
I was totally freezed just standing in there watching and shooting. Luckily I couldn’t stay too long :D Sometimes having too little time can be a good thing! I have stood outside shooting bandy games in about -20°C this winter a couple of times, but I was prepared for the merciless weather those days. This time -2° felt colder than -20°. It’s all about being prepared. -20° makes one prepare really well!
Anyway, the wintry scenery gives an unusually nice background for a football game. Last summer when I shot a young guy testing this new fake grass football field I couldn’t even imagine to shoot a game in there next winter! I don’t even want to know how much it costs to keep it warm enough for the snow and ice to melt. But hey, playing ball OUTSIDE during winter is more important than all other stuff money is needed for, right?! Ok, I shut up now :D
One more thing.. remember to check out the gallery for 2010! I’m updating it after every workday! And work gallery for 2009 is now ready.

I woke up to the ringing of my phone this morning a little after nine. There was a fire on the other side of the city. I got up and took my camera and went to take a few shots. There weren’t any flames to be seen anymore, but the firemen were still working there. The house had three apartments, two of them were totally burned. Thank god no one got hurt! Fire/smoke detectors are really cheap lifesavers.
I started a new gallery for 2010, it’s here.
Now I’m waiting for the information if I need to do one more gig today. In any case, I wish you all lots of love and light for 2010!

December 28th, 2009

I’ve been updating this blog so slowly, that most pics I shoot never even come close to getting posted. So I’m going to work around this I-don’t-have-time-to-update-this-blog-thing-and-when-I-do-everything-I-have-is-sooo-old-that-I-don’t-feel-like-posting-it problem by making a quickly updatable gallery for my work stuff.
The goal is to post at least one picture for every working day on that very same day, if it’s possible. Some days I might post only one picture and some days more. I try to keep one pic per gig limit in the gallery, because there’s always this blog where I can tell about some gigs in greater depth with both pictures and words.
I’ve made a gallery of some of my December work pics. Just to test if I can update it from work tomorrow. If things go smoothly I start a new gallery for 2010 later this week :) And maybe, if I feel like it, I’ll go back in time and add more months from 2009 too.
Please tell me if the gallery doesn’t work, or acts weirdly in any way. I’ve messed with the code of the gallery files even though I’m totally hopeless with that kind of stuff. Everything seems to work well enough on Safari.
